Welcome to The Cellars Studios

Sony HDV Camera

The project started in a Cellar in Ballybeen in 1992 thus the name. It has been described as a Dump, an Aladdin’s Cave, A Dream Factory, A Creative Haven but more than anything it is a place where creativity is nurtured, music is created, dreams are born, skills are learned and friendships formed.

In a deprived area of Belfast it has been reliant on grant funding to flourish and has succeeded as a community development project through its work in social development, a peace and reconciliation project through its use of music and film to bring divided communities together, a training project because of the new skills it nurtures, a Social Economy Business and an Arts Project without compromising its core aim that is to facilitate creative people without discrimination in an environment that had no facilities apart from the creative skills of its people. Best Cellars is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

In 2009 there is hardly a rock musician in Northern Ireland who hasn’t rehearsed, recorded or played at a gig that wasn’t facilitated by The Cellars. Our trainees are working with TV and film Companies all over the World.

We trust you will enjoy a Creative Experience with us soon.
